Learning how to handle sharp knives is part of what is needed to feel confident in the kitchen.
This class goes through the basic knife set, which knives are useful and which are not, how to look after a good knife and how to use a knife efficiently.
We cover all the classic knife techniques for vegetables and fruits. The key skill is jointing a whole, organic and truly free range chicken. Not only does this install confidence, but it encourages young cooks to understand why whole ingredients are more cost efficient than prepared cuts, and why cooking from scratch ensures healthy eating.
Parents dropping off or picking up are welcome to realax in our café and Bistro, which offers a glimpse of the action, as well as delicious home made pastries and lunch dishes.
Dishes will be sampled in class but mainly sent home for supper.
We are found at the very end of Purbeck Road (off Hills Rd by the sixth form centre) where you turn left by Abbey college and then carry straight on for about 60m to the white awnings you will see ahead.
Please note that there is very limited parking on site. We recommend the multi storey at the Leisure Centre less than 10min walk away or the Babraham Park & Ride which stops on Hills Road, very close to Purbeck Rd.
