Beginners Wine 1: French regions Alsace
Our wine events are never dull or intimidating. Come along and build up confidence together with other wine enthusiasts in our wonderful premises off Hills Road. In this session we will hone in on one of France’s most prestigious, yet least known region: Alsace.
Located on the north-eastern flank of France, close to the German border, the region is one of the driest in France, sitting as it does in rain-shadow of the Vosges mountains. Its winters are harsh, its summers hot and sunny, setting the scene for exceptional white wines made from single, aromatic grape varieties. Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer may not be on most people’s shopping list for the weekend, but once discovered, forever smitten!
