Classic Italian Wine regions – Piedmonte
Our wine events are never dull or intimidating and suit complete novices as well as those already into their wine. Come along and build up confidence together with other wine enthusiasts in our wonderful premises off Hills Road. Hand made nibbles to match the wines are always part of our delicious sessions.
Piedmonte translates into “at the foot of the mountain” and this north-western region of Italy is home to Ferrero Rocher, truffles and Barolo so what is not to like?!
The most famous grape of the region, the black grape Nebbiolo, results in red wines of elegant brutality. Haunting aromas of roses float above high acidity and tannins and once tasted, never forgotten. Less punchy local grapes Barbera and Dolcetto make less expensive and delicious reds perfect for autumn and winter dishes. The region’s most well known white wine, Gavi, is wonderfully refreshing and like its red cousins, a perfect food wine.
How to find us
The Cookery and Wine school is located at the end of Purbeck Road which comes off Hills Road by the sixth form college.
As you near the end of Purbeck Road, turn left in front of Abbey college into Homerton Gardens.
We have parking for 4-5 cars and whilst spittoons will be made available this is probably a leave-your-car-at-home-event.
