Details

At some point in the not too distant future, your teen will leave home and independent cooking will become essential.

This 2-day course has been designed to deliver a high octane introduction to essential kitchen skills, nutrition, budgeting and healthy cooking. Our Cordon Bleu trained team of chef teachers will cover classic skills required to cope with independent cooking.

This course is fairly demanding and the tempo is constantly high. We aim to instil classic, high quality cooking skills and an understanding of the chemistry and technique behind classic dishes. It suits focused teens with a keen interest in cooking.

The course includes:

Health, safety and hygiene in the kitchen

Sustainable shopping and cooking

Knife skills

Organisation, timing and efficiency

Healthy breakfasts

Plant based cooking – how to cut down on animal protein and create delicious meals from pulses and vegetables

How to cook a roast chicken

How to cook fish

How to make fresh pasta dishes, roast potatoes, cook rice and make good mash

How to bake cakes and basic bread

Full recipe packs included.

Parents can enjoy our free wi-fi, coffee, cake and lunch if dropping off, waiting or picking up.

We are found at the very end of Purbeck Road (off Hills Rd by the sixth form centre) where you turn left by Abbey college and then carry straight on for about 60m to the white awnings you will see ahead.

Please note that there is very limited parking on site. We recommend the multi storey at the Leisure Centre less than 10min walk away or the Babraham Park & Ride which stops on Hills Road, very close to Purbeck Rd.
